Scottish Women’s Aid
The national umbrella organisation for all Women’s Aid groups in Scotland. They run the:
National Domestic Abuse and Forced Marriage Helpline (Scotland)
Supports anyone experiencing domestic abuse or forced marriage, as well as family members, friends, colleagues and professionals who support them.
Shakti Women’s Aid
Edinburgh based organisation providing information and support for black minority ethnic (BME) women experiencing domestic abuse.
Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre
Offer free and confidential emotional and practical support, information and advocacy to women, all members of the trans community, non-binary people and young people aged 12-18 in Edinburgh, East and Midlothian, who have experienced sexual violence at any time in their lives. This includes, rape, sexual assault, sexual abuse, childhood sexual abuse and commercial sexual exploitation.
Women’s Aid Federation
The UK national charity (for England) working towards ending domestic violence against women and children, in conjunction with:
Refuge
Provides a national helpline, accommodation, psychological support and legal services for women and children in the UK.
LGBT Domestic Abuse Scotland
Provide support and advice to LGBT+ people and professionals, working across Scotland to raise awareness of LGBT+ people’s experiences of domestic abuse and improving service responses to LGBT+ people who experience domestic abuse and other forms of gender-based violence.
LGBT Health and Wellbeing
Information and support for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people, those questioning their sexual orientation or gender identity and their families, friends and supporters.
LGBT Youth Scotland
Provide information and resources, LGBT Youth Scotland is the largest youth and community-based organisation for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT+) people in Scotland.
Scottish Transgender Alliance
Provide support and resources and works to improve gender identity and gender reassignment equality, rights and inclusion in Scotland.
Galop
LGBT+ anti-violence charity. If you’ve experienced hate crime, sexual violence or domestic abuse, Galop can help. They also support lesbian, gay, bi, trans and queer people who have had problems with the police or have questions about the criminal justice system.
Respect: Men’s Advice Line – 0808 801 0327
Confidential helpline for men experiencing domestic violence from a partner or ex-partner (or from other family members). They help by: giving you time to tell your story; offering emotional support; providing practical advice; signposting you to other services for specialist help.
Specialist mental health and well-being support organisation for black, minority ethnic, asylum seeker, refugee and migrant women and girls (12+) in the Edinburgh and Glasgow area.
Provide support to the Central Eastern European community in Edinburgh and Scotland: culturally sensitive psychological support; community groups; advice and advocacy; immigration advice limited to the EU Settlement Scheme, with the aim to address health inequalities, promote integration and support the well-being and human rights of CEE communities.
MCFB (Multi-cultural Family Base)
Support children and parents dealing with important transition points – this can be the birth of a child, the move into primary school or the move to Edinburgh for families who are new migrants. They help children and families deal with issues of identity, loss, displacement and trauma, and to develop a sense of belonging and purpose in their lives.
